Camera Battery

I want to buy a new battery for my Canon 5D II. I’ve been stung before with a cheap “compatible” battery. On Amazon prices range from around £20 to over £300 for apparently equivalent products! I’ve looked at the Canon website and the LP-EG battery I need is no longer available. Any suggestions on what I should get and what I should expect to pay?

We found that the Hahnel versions work well.

Just watch the Hahnel batteries as they tend to give you a smaller capacity. For example the OEM Pentax battery for my K1 is 1860mAh whereas the Hahnel is only 1560mAh and therefore gives 20% fewer shots before it needs recharging. In addition, the Hahnel has started to fail after four years (it now only charges to about 75%, no matter how long I put it on charge - hence even fewer shots), whereas the OEM batteries are still going fine, as is an Energizer battery that I bought as a spare for my Pentax K5 about 9 years ago.
