Colour Grading and colour wheel

Postby BrianMet » Fri Nov 25, 2022 2:13 pm

I've spent most of this year looking at colour grading (not bad for someone who prefers black and white). I thought I would post something on the subject as it was touched on at the superb portrait presentation last night at the club.
First off the colour wheel, you can buy one they do cost a few quid, bit expensive for a bit of card.
The better alternative is to check out the website www.colour.adobe.com. This gives you all the tools to show what colours work best (bit like B&Q colour paint swatches) The site also allows you to type in the hexadecimal code for a given colour.

Not sure what a hex code is? it is the computer code allocated to your 256 colour array shown in your computer #000000 = BLACK #FFFFFF =WHITE

also watch the adverts on TV 90% are now colour graded The "head and shoulder" ad is a good example
