Group description

This is a friendly group to encourage people to take risks with their photography and move away from competitions by exploring different ways of being creative.  The group is suitable for beginners and experienced photographers alike.  You can use any camera including mobile phones and you can use any method of post-production.

Part of this experience is to learn how to critique each other’s images in a kindly manner.  By critiquing other peoples’ photographs you will learn to critique your own, but also it is important to understand the author’s intentions and whether they think that they have been successful.

We will use www.365project.org as a way to improve our photography.  More about this within the group.  We will intentionally break photographic rules, but you need to know the rules first!

We will look at Contemporary Photography and learning how to write a ‘Statement of Intent’.  This would help you with any RPS distinction that you might want to do in the future.  We will explore ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and double and multiple exposures (in camera and in Photoshop) which is an excellent way of conveying emotion and mood in your images.  We will consider notable photographers and artists from the past and see what we can learn from them. Composites are very fashionable in photography at the moment, and we will examine the making of graphic art.

This is just a snippet of what we will do!  I am always open to suggestions and ideas as that is how we all learn, but most importantly to have fun!
